The central challenge
Ordering a large library manually takes time, yet a fully automatic sequence cannot understand dramaturgy, the moment in the show or personal taste.
CASE STUDY APPLICATIONS
Data-informed set flow, with the final decision left to the DJ.
Case study of ENERGY MIX / CANDICE SET PLANNER: a local macOS application for analysing energy, structure and harmonic transitions in a DJ set.
ENERGY MIX is the portfolio name for CANDICE SET PLANNER, a local macOS tool that helps arrange tracks by energy, structure and harmonic compatibility without uploading the music library to an external server.
Ordering a large library manually takes time, yet a fully automatic sequence cannot understand dramaturgy, the moment in the show or personal taste.
Local analysis, constraints, locks and alternatives form a workflow where the engine proposes options and the DJ can listen, adjust or reject them.
We separate the real problem from steps created only by limitations of existing tools.
We define the data model, key scenarios and an interface that remains clear in daily use.
Frontend, logic, data and integrations come together in one working system.
We test critical paths, access, error states and realistic use before further development.
The application reads Rekordbox TXT, CSV, XML and M3U8 and unifies the inputs for further work.
Local analysis follows the progression of each track to inform the shape of the set.
Camelot logic helps find combinations worth considering as transition candidates.
Selected tracks or positions can be locked while the system optimises the rest.
Proposals can be compared and assessed by ear before the final export.
The finished sequence can be exported as M3U8, TXT, TSV or CSV for the next part of the workflow.
The verified stack combines SwiftUI, Swift, Python, OR-Tools, NumPy, Core Audio, Beat This, MusiCNN. Each technology was selected for the role it performs in the product, with maintainability and real operation in mind.
ENERGY MIX brings import, analysis, sequence proposals, transition previews and export into one local tool while keeping musical judgement with the person behind the set.
